Eat Before You Fish
Flying Fish × We Are Bizarre

The Problem
Mzansi loves a good time, but hates a rough morning after. Most people skip meals before going out, which leads to faster alcohol absorption and the hangover that follows. Traditional "drink responsibly" messaging gets ignored in clubs because it feels preachy and out of place. Flying Fish needed a way to bring the message back into culture — inside the places people actually go, without killing the vibe.
In South Africa, there's one group everyone listens to, no matter the noise: aboGogo. If your gogo tells you to eat first, you eat.
The Idea
Meet the Fly Gogos. Mzansi's most iconic "influencers", armed with wisdom, warmth, and wooden spoons. We brought a squad of Fly Gogos into Kitcheners in Braamfontein during peak nightlife hours. Instead of preaching, they danced, vibed, served warm food, and dropped the one line no one could argue with: You eat… before you jiva jiva. Suddenly, a responsible drinking message felt like cultural theatre — real, funny, and genuinely human.
